A Message To Your Elected Representative

Dear Members of Congress,

As life after life is tragically lost to relentless bias-based bullying, we cannot continue to look the other way. It is up to us to make these changes now, so no more lives are lost or scarred by senseless anti-LGBT harassment.

It is our hope that you will support the Safe Schools Improvement Act (H.R. 2262), which would require schools that receive Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act funding to implement comprehensive anti-bullying policies that include categories often targeted by bullies, including race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression and others.

Up until this point we have failed our students and young people by allowing anti-LGBT bullying to go unfettered and unchecked. The consequences of bullying are very real, and are often life-threatening. Passing the Safe Schools Improvement Act is a step in the right direction towards righting this tremendous wrong we have committed against our youth. By supporting this piece of legislation, you provide a voice to at-risk students who face harassment and suffer needlessly at the hands of bullies. You will also support a brighter, safer and more productive school environment for our future generations.
